Hello everyone,

Thank you so so much for all the wonderful wonderful cards we got to see during this swap... So I kick off the reveals with myself only....The cards I made were
1)Double dutch-fold

Monochromatics

Monochrome describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or shades of one color i.e. a monochromatic object or image has colors in shades of limited colors or hues.

Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue, and extended using its shades, tones and tints (that is, a hue modified by the addition of black, gray (black + white) and white.

For a better understanding I have a couple of projects that I have done before...

Many may or may not confirm this as a monochromatic door hanger..reasons being the project does not use any color other than Pink, purple and white....but to be more specific this project does not confirm the criteria of monochromatic! Simple reason that it does not use neutrals or blacks and greys to support the base hue (in this case pink) but takes the help of a separate color (in this case purple)

Check another example:

This project is monochromatic for the simple reason that it uses shades of orange and the other colors to support it are whites, off whites and black....no other color at all.

Another example:

The above project is only about shades of blue, white and greys and confirms more as a monochromatic than the orange tag!

Now lets see some more projects (picked from pinterest, google etc )

I hope now the term Monochromatic is more clearer ....and now we have a few color tones you can use in your envie mini album!

Hoping that the color tone posts are helping you all make up your mind on how you want to construct your mini album in terms of colors or hues.....though Bright and Bold is a pretty clear and common term...we shall do a small post on that too...maybe just have a few unique color palettes to help you plan your mini album :)

Enjoy the swap!!!

Vintage: The Lost Identity

THIS IS A PICTURE HEAVY POST!!!!

As the title suggests...Vintage is actually losing its real identity in India!!! Not many crafters work in Vintage art forms and for those who do they restrict themselves to a few shades....Black, Brown, Whites and Off whites smudged with Distress Inks to give a worn out feeling...

A little generic stuff  on Vintage:

Vintage, in wine making, is the process of picking grapes and creating the finished product. A vintage wine is one made from grapes that were all, or primarily, grown and harvested in a single specified year. And like wise Vintage clothing is clothing which was produced 20 years before the present day is considered "Vintage " and yet they have something called Retro and Repro styles in Vintage collections!!

I wonder when the word includes "wine"..."retro" stuff etc how can it confine itself to just Black, Brown, White and Off Whites ...its surely has more to offer and this post is exactly for that purpose ...to increase our color spectrum on our casually used term "VINTAGE"

Vintage has broadly 3 categories : Shabby Chic, Altered and Grunge....

Shabby Chic: Shabby Chic involves distressing techniques, found objects, mixing patterns and textures with feminine sensibilities and floral motifs. The colors are soft and subdued...mostly pastels such as sky blue, rose pink and beige tones and tends to incorporate fabric and sewing techniques. Shabby chic styles are often heavily painted with many layers and sometimes uses a lot of flowers.

Altered: Altered artistes love distressed looks but where shabby chic favors white washing, altered favors coffee or tea staining. Altered art relies on recycled items, mostly commonly found books and magazine clippings. Color are rich and warm, and text pattern rules. Image transfers are a popular technique.

Grunge: Grunge is the happy reunion of shabby chic and altered art. It is anything soft and feminine (shabby chic) that is not afraid to get dirty (altered). Hallmarks of the style include inked anything, contrasting textures (silk fabric with hard metal accents) and mixing funky font styles, colors and patterns.

Some other colorful Vintage Color Palettes that you all can put to use for the Envelop Mini Album Swap.

The color palette and the translation of the colors below

I hope we have increased the range of colors in your mind that fall under the term "VINTAGE" ...So happy crafting till our next post on Monochromatic Color Tones!!!
